Composition Ornamentation (Compo) on Picture Frames from Frames by Edward Wright

Ornamentation has been used for centuries on walls, mantels, ceilings, etc., and on picture frames. An ornament is a raised decorative piece applied to the picture frame moulding, usually at the corner. Original ornamentation was hand carved or sculpted. Today's "compo" is made of a composite material and molded from exact mold impressions of the original carvings. After the frame is finished, the ornament and the wood moulding appear as one. Ornamentation can be combined with hand-carvings to create complex frame designs with dimension and texture. We offer a large array of in-stock ornamentation and can order from a huge variety of ornaments to suit individual tastes and needs.
